What to Expect When You’re Expecting – Heidi Murkoff, Arlene Einsenberg & Sandee Hathaway
I bought this book 2 years ago before I’m expecting. It’s a 3rd edition but you can get the new 4th edition in the bookstore now.
This book answered absolutely every questions and concerns for me and Ron and kept me from freaking out more than once. I like having this resource at my fingertips and it kept me from having to track down my OB every time I had a simple questions. It’s a medically based book, normalized many experience I had while pregnant, and covered everything through labor and beyond, which put my mind at ease.
Since I’m looking for as much information as possible, I like that they covered every possible, good or bad so I could be knowledgeable about my body signals. It describes all pregnancy stages and weeks in details and even discuss main pregnancy risks and problems, with real life and relatable scenarios that it is actually enjoyable. Written in a questions answer format, so you can easily skip over the information that doesn’t apply to you or indulge in the information if you have the time. It even have a section for fathers-to-be.
Once I was having Braxton Hicks contractions, and because of this book, I knew what they really were so I did not waste my time going to the hospital. I would never know about Braxton Hicks contractions without this book. It told me very clearly what I was feeling and it was right!
This is an excellent book and I clung to it daily to make sure I knew what to expect next. I think this book prepare mothers very well!
