Social Security in Shanghai may include Foreigners

According to Shanghai Daily, those PR holders and expatriates working and living in Shanghai are expected to be include in the city’s social security system. Residents of Taiwan, hong Kong and Macau will be included in the benefits as well. Once it’s approved, qualified candidates will be allowed to join the city’s pension, medical and industrial injury insurance system. Source

Are you looking forward to this? I still remember one of my cousin asked me whether am I going to get a Chinese PR. China is a developing country and it might benefit me in the future. First of all, I’m not going to stay in China for good, so to me, and mayb for most of us Expats, it is totally unnecessary. Furthermore, China has lots of needless rules and regulations that can make business life hard here but work permits and visas are easy.

If you plan to get one, go here. Since 2004, more then 400 foreigners have acquire the Chinese PR. Having a PR enables you to work or doing business in China for 5 years without a visa.

Fat Guy Teaching English in Shanghai Subway

I met this guy twice when I was taking subway Line 1 at JingAn station last month. This guy out of nowhere hop on my cart and start his speech. He warned us not to trust this XYZ company (I’ve no idea what that company is) and said something bad about them… and whatever…. When the subway reach another station, he would run off to the next cart and start his speech all over. Now, he’s here again! He speaks Mandarin when I first saw him, but this time, he’s going to teach English in the subway. LOL!
