About
About This Blog - Miscellaneous Rambling & Musing of a Shanghai Expat Woman.
Shanghai Journal is a blog about an Expat woman’s life, traveling and insights about her expat location - Shanghai. It also covers topics on food, dining, art & design, Architecture, photography and some Internet reviews.
How It Began
It all started in 2004 as a “Personal Blog” when I came to China. It was created to share my China adventure, my feelings and the culture shock with my friends and family back home. It is my online diary, but for less-important-non-life-changing stuff. In other words, it’s a space where I pretty much bitch about anything that’s bugging me.

My name is Bibi Liew and I’m a third-generation oversea Chinese. I’m 30 years old, born on the 3rd of November and that makes me a typical Scorpio. I stayed in several countries and ended up in Shanghai for reasons that are still not entirely clear to myself…
I took up dancing classes at a very young age and went on to perform at many huge and small functions. The 8 years training was tough physically and mentally but I managed to pull it off. Ever since I was a kid, I love to draw. Well, all kids love to draw, but I probably inherited my dad’s creative instincts and won many awards in drawing competitions.

In 2004, I came to China and work as an Expatriate. 2008 is the 4th year. I am an Interior Architect graduated from Curtin University of Australia and work as a Design Manager cum Chief Designer in a Multi-National Architecture firm. I build Hotels and Club Houses in many Cities in China. China is booming! Entrepreneurs flock to China from all over the world. Thousands of hotels will be built for Beijing Olympic 2008. Therefore, they need more foreign Architects, Landscape Designers and Interior Designers like me

I work 70 hours a week. 14 hours a day. I haven been thinking how good if I can travel around the world knowing that my job will continue generating income for me! So I started my Online Business journey in early 2004. I run several home business websites, forums, and wrote a few online marketing e-books. I’m also a part time blogger and I enjoy it very much.

In November 2007, I married to Ron, a Malaysian Chinese grown up in Singapore who don’t know how to speak his National language - Malay.
My dream is to work at home full time, never set an alarm clock, saying goodbye to that terrible boss, troublesome clients and contractors. Imagine sipping a cup of cappuccino in Starbucks, a bit of reading and writing, surf online, going to gym, dinner with family… going for a vacation… No worries and daily stress, that’s what i dream for.
